I need help! How can I contact you?

Email us at help@tattup.shop or message us on WhatsApp. You’ll find all the ways to reach us on our contact page. We reply within 24 hours.

What is the Tattoo Guarantee?

If it doesn’t work, you get a replacement or your money back.

  • If your tattoo shows cracks, gaps or doesn’t reach full colour after developing (24–48 hours), the guarantee applies.
  • Get in touch within 72 hours of applying at help@tattup.shop, with a photo and your order number.
  • You get the same tattoo again, free including shipping, or your money back for that tattoo. You don’t need to return anything.
  • Also covers custom tattoos: we reprint your design or you get your money back.

It’s normal for your tattoo to slowly fade after a few days – that’s part of it.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

How does Tattup actually work?

The ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with your skin’s amino acids. Within 24–48 hours this creates a dark blue to black tattoo – no needles, nothing goes deep into the skin.

It lasts up to 2 weeks, then fades on its own as this layer of skin keeps renewing itself.

More in the guide
Why does it look so real?

Because the colour doesn’t sit on your skin – it forms inside it. The ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with the amino acids in your skin’s proteins, creating a deep blue-black within 24–48 hours. No shine, no film, no edges: it looks like a real tattoo and lasts up to 2 weeks.

How long does a Tattup tattoo last?

Up to 2 weeks. By then the top layer of your skin has renewed itself and the tattoo is gone.

How to make it last longer:

  • First 8 hours: no water, no rubbing.
  • First day: avoid contact as much as you can, wear loose clothes.
  • First 2 nights: wear something loose to sleep in – especially with a sleeve.
  • Choose spots with little friction.
  • From 48 hours on, once the colour has fully developed: apply a light, oil-free lotion daily.
  • Don’t scrub or exfoliate.

Our guide shows how long it lasts on each part of the body.

More in the guide
What tattoo sizes do you offer?

Seven sizes – from small fine-line motifs to a full sleeve. You’ll find the exact dimensions on every product page, and in the Custom Studio you can pick any size for your own design.

  • XS — 3 × 4 cm
  • S — 5 × 9 cm
  • M — 7 × 13 cm
  • L — 10 × 18 cm
  • XL — 13 × 22 cm
  • Huge (Half Sleeve) — 20 × 30 cm (also for back pieces)
  • Extra Huge (Sleeve) — 20 × 60 cm
Do I need to shave before applying a Tattup tattoo?

We suggest a hair-free zone to reduce the risk of smudging.

Which parts of my body work best?

The less friction and water, the longer it lasts.

  • Best: inner forearm, upper arm, shoulder
  • Fades faster: hands, wrist, feet, ankles (lots of movement, washing, shoes)

Our guide compares all parts of the body.

More in the guide
Is Tattup friendly for all skin tones?

Yes. The ink reacts with your skin’s amino acids – and every skin tone has them. That’s why the tattoo turns dark blue to black on every skin, and on darker skin it often looks even bolder.

Real examples: Instagram @tattup.shop.official · TikTok @tattup.shop

Do Tattup tattoos expire?

Yes. Unopened and stored somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, they keep for about 12 months. After that they work less well.

Are Tattup tattoos waterproof?

Yes. From the next day on you can shower, swim, do sports and go to the sauna. 💦

Just for the first 8 hours: no water, no rubbing.

Good to know: lots of water and rubbing make it fade a little faster.

What’s the difference from henna, stick-on tattoos and real tattoos?
  • Real tattoo: the ink is needled into the dermis and stays permanently.
  • Henna: stains the skin orange to reddish-brown and is usually painted on freehand.
  • Stick-on tattoos: the design sits on the skin as a layer of color, often looks shiny and usually peels off within a few days.
  • Tattup: the ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with your skin’s amino acids. Within 24–48 hours it becomes a dark blue to black tattoo that looks like a real one – no needles, waterproof, lasts up to 2 weeks.

Applying Tattoos

Go to topic
How do I apply my tattoo correctly?

Done in under a minute:

  1. Choose – Pick a smooth spot, wash it and dry it well. Hairy? Give it a quick shave. No oil-based products on it (cream, lotion, sunscreen).
  2. Unpack – Unpack the tattoo and peel off the clear protective film on the back.
  3. Place – Put the tattoo on your skin with the Tattup logo facing up.
  4. Wet – Dampen the paper with a wet cloth until it’s completely soaked, and press gently.
  5. Peel – Slowly peel off the paper. It still looks light now – that’s normal.
  6. Let it rest – No water and no rubbing for the first 8 hours. On the first day avoid contact as much as you can and wear loose clothes. For the first 2 nights wear something loose to sleep in – especially with a sleeve.
  7. Done! – The full colour develops within 24–48 hours.
More in the guide
How long before an event should I apply my tattoo?

Ideally 1–2 days before. Right after applying you can barely see it – the full colour only shows after 24–48 hours.

How long until my tattoo reaches full color?

After 24–48 hours – that’s how long the ink needs to react with your skin’s amino acids. Usually dark blue to black, a little different depending on your skin.

What color can I expect?

At first barely visible or light blue. Then the ink reacts with your skin’s amino acids: after 24–48 hours it’s dark blue to almost black, a little different depending on your skin.

More in the guide
Can I re-tattoo the same spot once it begins to fade?

Yes, but wait until the old tattoo is completely gone. That’s gentler on your skin.

Does applying a Tattup tattoo hurt?

Nope – not at all! No needles, no stress.

How can I avoid smudging?

It’s usually caused by moisture, cream or hair under the tattoo. Here’s how to get it right:

  • Before: wash the spot and dry it well, shave any hair, no oil-based products on it.
  • Dampen the paper until it’s completely soaked – then the whole design transfers.
  • Don’t move the tattoo once it’s on your skin.
  • First 8 hours: no water, no rubbing, no sports.
  • First day: avoid contact as much as you can, wear loose clothes.
  • First 2 nights: wear something loose to sleep in so nothing transfers to other parts of your body – especially with a sleeve.
More in the guide
Will it stain my bedding or clothes?

Don’t worry: bedding and clothes don’t get stained by a Tattup tattoo – it’s safe.

Still, go easy on your fresh tattoo for the first days. This protects the tattoo, not the fabric:

  • First 8 hours: no water, no rubbing.
  • First day: avoid contact as much as you can, wear loose clothes.
  • First 2 nights: wear something loose to sleep in – especially with a sleeve. While the colour is still fresh, rubbing from your blanket or clothes can smudge the tattoo or make it lighter.

Bedding and clothes are safe – but while the tattoo is fresh, it can transfer onto other parts of your body if it lies on them. So for the first nights, sleep so the tattooed spot doesn’t press against other skin. Loose clothes help.

More in the guide
Can I use a tattoo more than once?

No. Each tattoo is for one application. For the same look later, simply use a new one.

After Applying

Go to topic
My tattoo didn’t develop how I expected—any advice?

Common reasons:

  • The paper wasn’t completely soaked – then part of the design is missing.
  • It got wet or was rubbed in the first 8 hours.
  • Your clothes were too tight on the first day or while sleeping during the first 2 nights.
  • You showered, sweated or went to the sauna too early – wait until the next day.
  • There were still oil-based products on your skin (cream, lotion, sunscreen).
  • Every skin is different – colour and intensity can vary a little.

Still not right? Email us at help@tattup.shop with your order number, a photo of the tattoo and a short note on how you applied it. We’ll help you out.

Can I hit the sauna with my Tattup?

Yes, from the next day on. Sweating even helps the colour develop – whether sauna, running or sports. 💦

Afterwards gently pat dry. From 48 hours on, once the colour has fully developed: apply a light, oil-free lotion daily.

Can I tan or sunbathe with a Tattup?

Yes. Afterwards gently pat dry instead of rubbing.

For sunscreen and lotion: oil-free products only.

How do I remove a Tattup tattoo?

Warm salt water and a gentle scrub (body scrub or washcloth) make it fade faster. Don’t overdo it if your skin is sensitive.

Right after applying you can still simply wash it off.

I washed my Tattup, and it vanished!

If it gets wet in the first 8 hours, the ink can’t soak in properly.

And don’t worry if it looks pale at first: the full colour only shows after 24–48 hours.

Safety & Ingredients

Go to topic
Are Tattup tattoos safe?

Yes. Our formula was tested by a laboratory and rated safe in a safety report under the EU Cosmetics Regulation – as required for every cosmetic product in the EU.

As with any cosmetic product, an allergic reaction can never be ruled out completely. If you have sensitive skin, do a small patch test first. We recommend Tattup for ages 18 and up.

More in the guide
What are the ingredients?

Our super-secret (okay, maybe not) lineup includes:

Acrylates Copolymer, Cellulose Acetate Butyrate, Genipa Americana Fruit Extract, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Dipropylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Polyvinyl Butyral, Rosin Acrylate, Glycine Soja Oil, Paraffinum Liquidum, CI 42090

More in the guide
What is Genipa americana (jagua)?

Genipa americana is a tropical fruit from Central and South America, also known as jagua. The fruit extract is the active ingredient in our water-based ink: it bonds with the amino acids in the top layer of your skin and stains it dark blue to black within 24–48 hours.

Because only the top layer of skin is coloured, your Tattup lasts up to 2 weeks and then fades naturally as your skin renews itself.

More in the guide
Is Tattup vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes, both: our tattoos are vegan and never tested on animals – one hundred percent.

Is Tattup gluten-free?

Yes, indeed. No gluten in our products.

Are Tattup tattoos safe for kids?

We prioritize safety, as children’s or infants’ skin can be extra sensitive. We recommend patch tests for everyone, and generally suggest Tattup for folks 18+.

Is Tattup safe while pregnant or breastfeeding?

We always advise consulting your healthcare provider first to make sure you’re in the clear.

What should I do if I get a skin reaction?

There’s a small risk of an allergy, because your skin may not know some of the ingredients yet.

  • If your skin gets irritated: wash the spot and stop using the tattoo.
  • A soothing cream helps with mild redness. Don’t scratch.
  • If itching or redness doesn’t go away, see a doctor.
  • Ink in your eye: rinse thoroughly with water right away.
More in the guide
What are the warnings?
  • For external use only.
  • Do not apply to the face or to broken or irritated skin.
  • Not suitable for babies and young children – keep out of reach of children.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. If anything gets into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water right away.
  • If you notice itching, burning or redness, wash the area and stop using it. If symptoms persist, get medical advice before trying again.

Orders & Refunds

Go to topic
How do I find a specific design?

Use the search at the top of the page or open All tattoos and filter by style, category and size. Nothing that fits? Design your own in the Custom Studio.

Which payment methods do you take?

Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna. In Switzerland also TWINT.

Adding a discount code—how does that work?
  1. When your cart is ready, select the Cart icon.
  2. Click Go to checkout.
  3. Type in your discount code and press Apply.

⚠️ Note: Only one code can be used per order.

How does the look discount work?

Add a whole look to your cart and you automatically get 30% off every tattoo in that look.

No code needed: the discount shows up right in your cart and at checkout. Free tattoos work as always.

Can I leave out single tattoos?

The 30% off is only for the whole look. If you remove a tattoo, the look discount no longer applies.

You can always buy single tattoos in the shop at the regular price.

Do discount codes apply on top?

Not on look tattoos: only one discount applies per tattoo, and the checkout automatically picks the better one for you.

Can I change my order or shipping address?

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! Shipping is free from CHF 39 in Switzerland, from €39 in Germany and Austria, from €49 in the rest of Europe and from USD 49 in all other countries. You’ll find all details under “Where do you deliver, and what’s the cost?”.

Are there any customs fees?

Within the EU (including Switzerland, Germany and Austria) there are no customs fees: orders to Switzerland ship from our Swiss warehouse, orders to the EU from our warehouse in Germany.

Outside Switzerland and the EU, customs or import fees may apply depending on local laws. Unfortunately we can’t predict or cover these – if in doubt, your local customs office can help.

What’s my order status, and how do I track it?

As soon as your parcel is on its way, you’ll get a shipping confirmation by email with your tracking link. You’ll also find it in your customer account under Orders – every order shows its status and tracking.

My tracking link isn’t working

Once you’ve got a confirmation, your package is on the move. Because we ship in smaller envelopes, the tracking may be limited, but don’t worry—it’s en route.

My package hasn’t arrived – what now?

As soon as your package ships, you’ll get a shipping confirmation by email. Sometimes the post has delays that are beyond our control. Small envelopes also don’t get a tracking update at every step – often the status only updates on delivery.

Still no package? Email us at help@tattup.shop with your order number – we’ll check right away and find a solution.

Tracking says “delivered” but I don’t see it

Occasionally, carriers mark items delivered before they actually arrive. Give it 2–3 business days—most of the time, it shows up within that window. Otherwise, email us at help@tattup.shop.

My package was returned to sender. Now what?

That’s definitely a bummer. Often it happens due to a wrong address or a missed pickup notice. If your tracking says “Returned To Sender,” drop us a line at help@tattup.shop, and we’ll work on a solution.

How does Tattup stay eco-friendly with shipping?

From day one, we’ve been all about sustainable vibes. We keep packaging minimal and 100% plastic-free, so you don’t get bulky inserts or useless waste. Our printing uses water-based, chemical-free inks, which are fully recyclable. Plus, our shipping materials come from recycled sources. Even the shipping boxes have an FSC Mix label, while the tattoo packaging itself is exclusively recycled paper. We’re committed to keeping it green (and good-looking).

Custom Tattoos

Go to topic
How does the Custom Studio work?
  1. Design: upload an image, pick one of 1,300+ ready-made motifs, create one with AI or use the Tattoo Builder – and add texts.
  2. Choose your size: you always see the real centimetres, even on skin.
  3. Choose the quantity (from 3 pieces) and add to cart.

Our designers check every design by hand and get in touch if anything doesn’t fit.

More in the guide
How many motifs and texts fit on one design?

As many as you like. Combine uploads, motifs, texts and drawings freely on your canvas.

More in the guide
How do I edit texts, images and motifs?

Tap “Text” in the studio, type your text and pick a font. Every element – text, image or motif – can be moved, rotated and scaled right on the canvas. Tap it to edit.

More in the guide
What does the Tattoo Builder do?

It’s your assistant for looks from our catalogue: tap motifs and combine them on hand, fingers or arm. We bring everything to the right size and onto your print sheet automatically.

How does the AI draft in the studio work?

Describe your idea in one sentence, e.g. “fine flowers with geometric elements”. The AI drafts your motif right in the studio – 10 generations per day are free.

Custom Studio or AI Tattoo Generator – what’s the difference?
  • Custom Studio: design your tattoo yourself, fast – upload, pick from 1,300+ motifs, add text, draw. For a quick idea there’s the built-in AI draft (10 per day free).
  • AI Tattoo Generator: much stronger AI models for more detailed concepts and more intense images – a whole suite with dozens of settings to create the perfect tattoo (styles, cover-up, extract, remix and more). Runs on credits.

You can order your design straight from both as a Tattup tattoo.

Which files can I upload?

PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG or HEIC up to 10 MB. A sharp file with clear lines works best.

Why isn’t my upload working?

Usually it’s the file type or size. PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG and HEIC up to 10 MB work. If your browser can’t open an iPhone photo (HEIC), save it as JPG or open the page in Safari.

Can I upload a photo instead of artwork?

Yes, as long as it’s sharp, high-contrast and has clear lines. Photos of drawings on paper or of real tattoos on skin work too – our designers check every photo individually and prepare it by hand.

My image has a background – does that work?

Yes. A white background is ideal, and we remove light backgrounds automatically. Any other background is cut out by hand by our designers.

Do I need to mirror my design?

No. Upload it exactly as it should look on your skin.

My design is in colour – what will the tattoo look like?

All tattoos are made with one dark tattoo ink. Colours turn into this ink and the background becomes transparent.

Which designs work best?
  • Good: clear, sharp lines (at least 0.5 mm), ideally black and white on a light background.
  • Less good: very blurry or tiny images, gradients, shadows and photorealistic portraits with many shades of grey.
  • Only upload images you’re allowed to use – your own designs, your own photos or motifs from our studio.
More in the guide
How big will my tattoo be?

You decide. Canvases range from XS (3 × 4 cm) to Extra Huge (Sleeve, 20 × 60 cm). The cm figures in the studio show the actual size of your tattoo.

  • XS — 3 × 4 cm
  • S — 5 × 9 cm
  • M — 7 × 13 cm
  • L — 10 × 18 cm
  • XL — 13 × 22 cm
  • Huge (Half Sleeve) — 20 × 30 cm (also for back pieces)
  • Extra Huge (Sleeve) — 20 × 60 cm
Can I change the size later?

Any time. When you switch sizes, your tattoo keeps its centimetres. If it no longer fits the canvas, we shrink it automatically.

How many tattoos do I get?

You choose a quantity from 3 pieces and receive your design exactly that many times. The more you order, the less each tattoo costs.

Why can’t I order just one custom tattoo?

Every custom tattoo is made just for you – single pieces would be disproportionately expensive. With several copies you have refills, can test placements or let friends join in.

Can I order several designs?

Yes. Every design is its own item in the cart – add it and simply design the next one.

I have a design in my cart and want to change something.

Tap “Edit” next to the design in your cart. It opens in the studio – change what you like and tap “Update cart”.

Good to know: this works on the device you created the design on.

How long does delivery take?

Custom tattoos are produced just for you, in batches to keep prices fair. Allow about 4 weeks.

What if my design can’t be printed?

Our designers check every order. If anything doesn’t fit, we’ll email you before anything is produced.

Why was my custom tattoo cancelled?

That’s rare – for example when a file is damaged or a design can’t be printed. If it happens, we’ll let you know by email.

Can I return a custom tattoo?

No. Custom tattoos are made just for you, so they can’t be returned or exchanged. If something arrives damaged or wrong, email us at help@tattup.shop – we’ll sort it out.

AI Tattoo Generator

Go to topic
What is the Tattup AI tattoo generator?

The Tattup AI tattoo generator creates tattoo designs from your description: pick a style, describe your idea and the AI drafts your design. Every design can be ordered directly as a Tattup tattoo. Open the generator

More in the guide
Is the AI tattoo generator free?

You can start for free: create a free account and you get 2 free credits – no credit card needed. One design costs 0.5 credits with the Fast model or 2 credits with the PRO model. Your account also saves your gallery and favorites.

How can I get more credits?

When your free credits are used up, you can buy more at any time: as a one-time package or as a monthly subscription. The subscription works out cheaper per credit. Here are the current packages and prices:

What is the difference between Fast and PRO?
  • Fast – 0.5 credits: quick, inexpensive drafts. Ideal for experimenting until layout and composition are right.
  • PRO – 2 credits: highest detail and sharpness for your final, high-resolution design.

Cover-up and Extract always use PRO (2 credits), because photo-based functions need the highest detail level.

Tip: test and refine your description with Fast first, then switch to PRO for the final design.

Which styles and options can I choose?

Styles: Auto, Blackwork, Traditional, Neo-Traditional, Watercolor, Minimalist, Geometric, Japanese, Tribal, Dotwork, Sketch / Line Art, Fine Line, Sigil, Couple and Asemic Script.

Options: ink (black, white, color), gender (neutral, masculine, feminine), format (portrait, square, landscape) and body placement – from forearm, hand and wrist to sleeve, back, ribs or neck. Your description can be up to 500 characters long.

What is the community and how does Remix work?

In the community you can browse designs other people created with the AI. Tap Remix on any design and its description is copied into your composer – change it, pick another style and create your own version.

Tap the heart to save designs to your favorites. Your own designs are stored in your gallery.

Can I upload an image as inspiration?

Yes. With Upload inspiration you attach a reference photo, and the AI uses it as inspiration for your design – for example a motif, a style or a mood you like.

Can I extract a tattoo from a photo?

Yes. With Extract you upload a photo of a tattoo on skin – for example your own – and the AI lifts the motif off the skin and turns it into a clean design. You can then refine it, try it on or order it directly as a Tattup tattoo. Extract always uses the PRO model (2 credits).

Can the AI design a cover-up for an existing tattoo?

Yes. Choose Cover-up and upload a clear, well-lit photo of the area you want to cover (max. 8 MB, JPG, PNG or HEIC) – the AI designs a new tattoo over it. Cover-up always uses the PRO model (2 credits).

Can I see how the tattoo looks on my skin?

Yes, with the Virtual Try-On: upload a photo of your body part (JPEG or PNG), drag the design into place, scale and rotate it, and adjust opacity and blend mode – “Multiply” gives the most realistic ink look. You can download the preview.

Can I order my AI design as a Tattup tattoo?

Yes – every design, including your remixes from the community. Tap Order tattoo and pick a size: your design opens straight in the Custom Studio, where you place it and add it to your cart.

We print it individually for you, delivered in about 4 weeks. On your skin it turns deep blue-black like every Tattup – even if you created it in colour.

Can I download my designs?

Yes. You can download every design in 1024 px or 2048 px, copy its description, or test it on your skin first.
